CARDIAC REHABILITATION

The purpose of Cardiac Rehabilitation is to increase functional capacities and to reduce cardiac risk factors.  Cardiac Rehab is held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  (Pulmonary Rehab uses this area on Tuesdays, and Thursdays.)  Several sessions are offered during the day.  Each session lasts approximately 1½ hours.  The first hour is the exercise component; the last ½ hour is a class on risk factor reduction. During the sessions each participant wears a cardiac telemetry monitor. 

Exercise Component

Exercise is held in a group setting, however each individuals exercise prescription is based on his or her own physical capabilities and limitations.       

        

Risk Factor Reduction Component 

Education is provided on an individual basis as well as in a group setting and is designed to increase knowledge and confidence in self-care

Education include the following topics:  Understanding Heart Disease, What to do when angina occurs, Medications, Blood Pressure, Exercise, Emotional Aspects of Heart Disease, Intimacy and Heart Disease, a series of Low Fat Diet classes, and a variety of Stress Management classes. 

Cardiac Rehab Department Hours: 

7:00am - 3:00 PM Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
