Our Services

Breast Health Clinic

Montgomery County Memorial Hospital is proud to provide a Breast Health Clinic for residents of Southwest Iowa. Through this clinic, we offer services to women with abnormal breast exam results, mammograms or other breast health concerns. Reconstruction is offered to women diagnosed with breast cancer.

Beyond the Mammogram

For most women, mammography is the only service they need.

If the results of the mammogram or breast examination are abnormal, extensive diagnostic testing will be done, depending on the patient's individual needs. An interdisciplinary team of specialists will help determine the reasons for the abnormal results and plan a course of action if needed.

Our services include:

  • Evaluation of breast health conditions.
  • Breast health screenings.
  • Mammography.
  • Clinical breast exams.
  • Treatment for breast cancer.
  • Breast reconstruction.
  • Follow-up care.

MCMH Breast Health Clinic Coordinator

Carla Long, RN, returned to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after working for Red Oak Internal Medicine for 20 years. Long has nursing experience with inpatient hospital care and health care in a clinic setting. This has included coordinating patient care, treatment and education.

As coordinator, Long assists our patients with all their medical needs. She arranges and coordinates appointments, diagnostic tests, referrals and patient teaching and support. Long is available for public speaking engagements as well.

Reach to Recovery

For those of you who are experiencing breast disease, we want you to know there is support available in our community.

For any of you who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, we offer Reach to Recovery. This is an American Cancer Society-sponsored program to help you through the early days of diagnosis and treatment. A visitor who has experienced breast cancer will see you in the first few days before treatment. She will provide helpful information and address any concerns you might have.

A breast cancer support group meets monthly on the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. This is a group of women who are breast cancer survivors, whether newly diagnosed or long-term survivors. Meetings include a short program and sharing of ideas and concerns. For more information, call Jerry Vennerberg at 712-623-4049 or Venita Edie at 712-623-4264.

We wish you well on your recovery journey and want you to know that we are here for you.
