What is the MCMH Auxiliary?
The Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is a nonprofit organization providing volunteer services for patients, staff and visitors. Over 150 active and sustaining members contribute more than 11,000 hours of service each year.
Since its beginning in 1961, the Auxiliary has raised over 1 million dollars for hospital equipment and projects. Some of the projects funded by the Auxiliary have included:
- New Patient Bed for Comfort Suit
- Gazebo & Serenity Garden
- Lactation Supply Bags & Renovations of Lactation Suite
- Stryker Bed for Emergency Department
- Stained Glass Window for MCMH Chapel
- Front Entrance Benches
- And so much more!
The MCMH Auxiliary is always looking for new members! For only $5, you can become a member of the Auxiliary. Membership does not require volunteer hours, however there are a variety of ways to be active and involved.
As a member of the MCMH Auxiliary, you’ll be part of a supportive community of like-minded volunteers who are dedicated to making a positive impact in the hospital and beyond. If you’re passionate about helping others and making a difference in your community, volunteering with the MCMH Auxiliary could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The Lemon Tree Gift Shop is located in the lobby of the Main Entrance of Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. The Lemon Tree is run by Auxiliary volunteers. The Lemon Tree offers a range of products, such as clothing items, accessories, home décor, kitchen items, snacks and more.
All proceeds of the Lemon Tree Gift Shop go to the MCMH Auxiliary, who then uses the funds to support hospital programs and services. This means that by shopping at the Lemon Tree Gift Shop, you can feel good knowing that your purchase is directly benefiting MCMH + Clinics staff and patients!
MCMH Book Cart
One of the unique volunteer opportunities with the Auxiliary is delivering books and magazines to our in-patients. This service brightens our patients’ day and offers a welcome distraction during their hospital stay. As a book-cart volunteer you’ll have the chance to interact with patients and provide them with reading material tailored to their interests and needs. This is a great way to bring a little bit of joy and comfort to those who may be feeling down.
Auxiliary volunteers play an important role in supporting hospital staff and patients, and one area where their help is particularly valuable is in the hospital cafeteria. At MCMH + Clinics, volunteers can be found assisting in the cafeteria during breakfast, helping hospital employees and visitors as they purchase their meals. This simple but important task allows the cafeteria to run more efficiently, freeing up staff to focus on preparing and serving food. For the volunteers, it’s a chance to give back to the hospital and support their community in a meaningful way. For the employees, it’s a positive experience to see friendly faces greeting them each morning and helping to start their day off on the right foot.
The MCMH Auxiliary is dedicated to supporting those interested in exploring careers in healthcare. Each year they give out two scholarships to Montgomery County graduating seniors entering a healthcare related program. Scholarship Applications can be submitted each year due May 1st.
Christmas Preview & Linen Sales
The MCMH Auxiliary Lemon Tree Gift Shop Holiday Preview Event is a highly anticipated annual event that takes place each November in the MCMH Conference Center. This event offers a unique shopping experience to patients, staff and visitors who are looking for beautiful holiday décor to brighten up their homes or to give as gifts.
The event is hosted by the MCMH Auxiliary, who curate a beautiful selection of holiday decorations and gifts. The event is a festive and joyous occasion, featuring holiday music, refreshments, and an opportunity to shop in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. It is a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season and spread cheer throughout the hospital and community!
Another highly anticipated annual event is the MCMH Auxiliary Linen Sale. The linen sale features a variety of products, including quilts, Sherpa throw blankets, sheets, and bamboo memory foam pillows among many other things. Customers can find a range of styles and designs to choose from, making it an ideal opportunity to update their home or find a unique gift for a loved one. The best part of this event is that all proceeds go towards supporting the Auxiliary and MCMH + Clinics! Customers can feel good knowing that their purchases are making a positive impact on the community.

Employee Appreciation Events
The MCMH Auxiliary hosts multiple employee appreciation events throughout the year for hospital and clinic staff. These events range from root beer floats and brownie ice cream sundaes in the summer months to holiday cookies and hot cocoa during the winter season to name a few. The volunteers work to ensure that each event is memorable and special for the staff. They assist with various tasks such as event planning, decorations, setup, and serving. The events provide a great opportunity for staff to relax, connect with one another, and enjoy delicious treats while taking a break from their daily routine.
