Frequently Asked Questions: Downtown Rural Health Clinic
Is MCMH acquiring Dental Care PC?
Yes. On May 27th, the MCMH Board of Trustees passed a resolution to begin an acquisition of Dental Care PC from Dr. Kim Truka and Mr. Chuck Truka. As part of this transition, MCMH will open a new Rural Health Clinic at the current Dental Care PC location that will offer dental care, primary care, urgent care, and eventually behavioral health services.
Why is MCMH opening a new clinic that includes Dental services?
We are committed to meeting the healthcare needs of patients in Montgomery County and Southwest Iowa, and that includes dental and oral health. We know oral health is an important part of a person's overall health. By bringing dental care together with primary care and urgent care in one downtown location, we can offer a more complete healthcare experience close to home
What is a Rural Health Clinic?
A Rural Health Clinic (RHC) is a federally designated clinic in a rural community designed to ensure patients have access to primary care close to home. RHC's offer wellness visits, treatment for illness, and ongoing care for chronic conditions, with a team-based approach to care. We are excited to be including Dental Services for the first time in an Iowa RHC.
When will the new clinic open?
We are targeting an opening in early 2027. In the meantime, Dental Care PC patients will continue to be seen as normal with no interruption to services.
What services be available?
The new downtown clinic will offer dental care for all ages, primary care, urgent care services, lab services, immunizations, and DOT physicals.
What will the hours be at the new downtown clinic?
Dental hours will remain the same during the transition. When the clinic fully opens in early 2027, primary care and urgent care services will be available Monday through Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 8am to noon. Additional details about dental hours will be shared as we get closer to opening.
Will Dr. Truka still be my dentist and will the same staff be there?
Yes! Dr. Truka is not retiring and will continue seeing her current patients. The dental staff you know will remain in place, and as we grow the team you will also see some new faces. If you are a new patient, there will be a process for requesting Dr. Truka as your dental provider.
What insurances will you accept?
We anticipate accepting all insurances, including Medicaid, following the full transition and opening in early 2027.
If I'm a current patient of either Dental Care PC or MCMH will my records transfer and do I need to do anything?
|
If you are a current Dental Care PC patient: Your dental records will transfer automatically, and your upcoming appointments will be honored. You do not need to do anything.
If you are a current MCMH patient: Your medical records will be available at the new downtown clinic once it opens in early 2027.
