Diabetes Education
Certified by the American Diabetes Association and State of Iowa
Living with diabetes is a challenge. It requires learning how to take care of yourself and your diabetes. Success is not only based on what you know, but what you do with that knowledge. The Diabetes Education Center offers classes to help you learn self-care skills, independence and lifestyle changes that can make a real difference in how you feel every day.
Education is available on meal planning, blood glucose monitoring, medications and insulin administration. These are held in a group setting, but individualized sessions can also be conducted as needed. Self-management education is offered for youth and adults with type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes. Diabetes prevention programs are also offered.
The Diabetes Education Center has earned the Certificate of Education Recognition by the American Diabetes Association, as well as certification by the State of Iowa.
