Montgomery County Memorial Hospital + Clinics Board of Trustees Appoints Mike O’Neal CEO Elect
RED OAK, Iowa — The Montgomery County Memorial Hospital + Clinics (MCMH + Clinics) Board of Trustees has officially approved a leadership transition plan and appointed Michael O’Neal as the next Chief Executive Officer, effective March 2026.
Mr. O’Neal, who has served as Chief Operating Officer since 2021, brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership experience, including 13 years as CEO of George C. Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, Iowa. He will succeed current CEO Ron Kloewer, who will serve as CEO Emeritus until his retirement in June 2026.
Mr. Kloewer has been a trusted leader at MCMH for nearly four decades, guiding major facility expansions, strengthening hospital operations, and championing community-based healthcare. The Board expressed gratitude for his dedicated service and praised his steady leadership through times of growth and change.
“Ron’s impact on MCMH + Clinics has been extraordinary,” said Board Chair Kevin Cabbage. “We are confident that Mike will build on this legacy while bringing new energy and ideas to lead us into the future.”
A community celebration honoring Mr. Kloewer’s career and welcoming Mr. O’Neal into his new role will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Wilson Performing Arts Center. More details will be shared in the months ahead.
