Biography

Originally born in Chicago followed by high school in St. Louis, Dr. Amy Bingaman has lived in six states but considers herself a true Iowan, having lived here the longest. She graduated from Drake University in 1997 and the University of Iowa Medical School in 2002. Dr. Bingaman completed her OB/GYN Residency at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA, and served on active duty for 8.5 years. Since returning to Iowa in 2010, Amy has practiced at Methodist in Des Moines for ten years and Broadlawns for nearly five years.

Dr. Bingaman is currently focused on providing GYN care to rural communities and the West Des Moines area. Her primary areas of interest include adolescent gynecology, LGBTQ care, robotic surgery, and perimenopause and menopausal care (She is Menopause Society Certified). Dr. Bingaman’s approach to care is centered on patient education and collaborating with her patients to choose the best treatment options for their needs.

“We have a 350-acre farm in Columbia, Iowa, which my husband 50/50 farms.  We have goats, chickens, and ducks as well as our dogs!  I have four wonderful children: Denzel, Xander, Zachary, and Natalie. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, cooking, running, reading, and traveling.”
